Description

  • softly hairy odd-pinnate leaflets in rows, one at tip leaves, ovate egg-shaped, narrow at base leaflets with a crenate with rounded teeth margin and slightly paler green on the underside leaflets
  • white flowers in umbrella-shaped clusters
  • marginal flowers each have 1 white petal, enlarged, and uniformly deeply 2-lobed
  • glossy, 5-8mm round fruit. flattened, elaborately textured

preparation

  1. pick tender leaves raw for salad
  2. leaves and stems can be steamed or boiled alone or added to food as a flavouring
  3. an aromatic herb that tastes of anise and parsley

Two mirror-image wasps, joined head-to-head and tip-to-tip, hold a central disc. 

The fruit of Tordylium apulum has been suggested as the inspiration for the three suspended discs.
