foraging food

February in Cyprus, brings with it the last weeks of winter. Dress warmly with waterproofs for foraging as the weather is cold, wet and windy but the landscape is green and lush.

With the island receiving much-needed rainfall during the winter months, the flora are at their peak, providing plenty of food sources for foragers.

The Cyprus countryside comes alive with beautiful wildflowers, fresh herbs, and tasty wild fruits. Foragers can find a variety of delicious and nutritious plants such as wild asparagus, nettles, chicory, and rocket. Nutritious mushrooms such as milk caps and oyster mushrooms are also plentiful during this time.

If you’re interested in foraging, February is an excellent time to explore the Cypriot countryside and discover its edible delights. Just be sure to respect nature, leave no trace, and only take what you need.
