November in Cyprus is the time of change, “τα πρώτο βρόχια”, “the first rains” signal the end of the hot, dry summer. This time of year also marks the start of mushroom season, a time when locals begin secretly searching for their favourite wild fungi. Mushrooming is a skill that requires practice and the ability to “get your eye in.” This means that once you start spotting mushrooms, it becomes easier to find them.
