  3. The fruit of Crataegus azarolus are called ‘Azaroles’ and can be eaten raw but also used for jam, in Cyprus named ‘λαδάπι’ (Ladapi)
  4. The fruit of Crataegus monogyna are called ‘Haws’ and can be used for jams

The two varieties of hawthorn have crossed to produce Crataegus ×sinaica which can be found on Troodos. 

Crataegus azarolus can be found all over Cyprus. Crataegus monogyna can be found on Troodos and the west of the island. 

Crataegus azarolus, commonly known as the Azarole hawthorn, has oval leaves with serrated edges. Small, round fruits are bright yellow or orange

Crataegus monogyna, also known as the Common hawthorn, has deeply lobed leaves with pointed tips. Oval-shaped fruits are dark red
