Description

  • forms a rosette leaflets in tight circular rings of lyrate shaped like a lyre, with an enlarged terminal lobe and smaller lateral lobes leaves, covered with fine hairs and an irregularly serate teeth pointed forward margin
  • lower leaves are long-stalked, with oval blade irregularly lobed towards the base
  • dandelion-like yellow flower

  1. tender stems and leaves can be eaten raw
  2. sauté or blanche in hot water for a few minutes to remove bitterness

The English name ‘nipplewort’ derives from the resemblance to unopened flower buds.
