Description

  • the young plant has truncatesquared-off apex or cordateheart-shaped, stem in cleft light grey-green leaves
  • palmatelike a hand with fingers stiff, spiny and leathery leaves with purple veins and white outline
  • grows in coastal areas

preparation

  1. pick young tender plant and root
  2. steam or boil and serve with olive oil and lemon
  3. can be pickled
  4. the root can be candied as a sweet
