Description

  • rough textured hastatetriangular with basal lobes, ovateegg-shaped, narrow at base or sagittateshaped like an arrowhead green leaves with a slightly crenatewith rounded teeth margin
  • some varieties have prominent veins the leaves

preparation

  1. pick tender leaves for salads
  2. steam or boil serve with olive oil and lemon
  3. use as spinach, goes well with beans and other legumes

There are many species and sub-species of the genus Rumex (docks and sorrels) in Cyprus.

Some can be found all over the island, others in coastal areas, others restricted to higher altitudes.

There is a large range of leaf morphology in the genus:
