foraging food

It’s that time of the year again, July in Cyprus – the season of scorching heat and dry weather. The temperatures are reaching a sweltering +40°C on the plains and in Nicosia, while the coasts have to bear the additional humidity, making outdoor activities difficult during the day.

It is advisable to restrict foraging and outdoor activities to early morning or late afternoon, even in the cooler high elevations. It’s important to keep yourself hydrated and avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours. Using sunscreen, wearing a hat and covering-up while stepping outdoors is essential.

With a little caution and thoughtfulness, one can avoid being affected by the high temperatures and enjoy the beautiful island of Cyprus.
